Routine terms of service
Last updated: October 28, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Down to a Science, LLC, a Utah limited liability company ("we", "us"), about using Routine: the app, its sign-in, and the services behind them. By using Routine, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Routine. Our privacy policy explains how we handle information.
Who can use Routine
Routine is for families. A parent or guardian sets it up and manages it, and kids use it on a device a grown-up has set up. To sign in, you must be an adult: at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. You're responsible for how Routine is used on your devices, including by your kids.
Your account
Signing in is optional. If you sign in, use an email address you control and keep it secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in to your family account. Keep your parent PIN to yourself as well. If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us at admin@downtoascience.com.
Your family's information
What you put into Routine (your kids' names, their routines, prizes and so on) is yours. It stays on your device unless you choose to keep your devices in step. If you do, you let us store and use it only to do that, as the privacy policy describes.
Stars, prizes and rewards
Stars, prizes, outfits and other rewards in Routine are for fun inside the app. They have no money value, can't be exchanged or transferred, and may change. Any real-world rewards are up to you.
Using Routine fairly
Please don't:
- misuse Routine's sign-in or servers, for example by sending sign-in codes to people who didn't ask for them, or trying to get into an account that isn't yours;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of Routine or its servers;
- copy, sell or redistribute Routine, except where the law allows it.
Routine is a helper
Routine helps kids follow their routines with timers, reminders and rewards. It isn't a childcare, medical or safety service, and it doesn't replace a grown-up keeping an eye on things. Timers and voice reminders may not always happen on time, for example if the device is muted, asleep or out of battery.
Premium features and payments
Routine is free today. If we add paid features, you'll see the price and what you get before you pay, and the App Store or Google Play will handle the purchase under its own terms.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Routine, so features may change, and we may stop offering some of them. We'll try to give notice of big changes, but we can't promise Routine's services will always be available. Your family's information lives on your device, so deleting the app deletes it.
Ending
You can stop using Routine at any time, and ask us to delete your account as the privacy policy describes. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts Routine or other people at risk.
Disclaimers
Routine is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond the ones in these terms, including that Routine will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising from your use of Routine, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Routine in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
App stores
If you got Routine from Apple's App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Routine or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and isn't responsible for handling any claims about it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. If Routine fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it, if anything; Apple has no other warranty obligation for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow the App Store's own terms.
If you got Routine from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your use of the store.
You confirm that you aren't in a country under a U.S. government embargo, or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you aren't on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its rules on conflicts of laws. If you have a problem with Routine, please contact us first and give us 30 days to try to put it right. Any dispute that isn't resolved that way will be decided by the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you live somewhere whose consumer protection laws give you the right to bring a claim in your own courts or under your own laws, nothing in these terms takes that right away.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and tell you in the app about important changes. If you keep using Routine after a change, the new terms apply.
